A practical guide to choosing between website repairs and a redesign, considering mobile usability, speed, SEO, enquiries and maintenance costs.
When should you consider a redesign?
Consider an audit if key content is difficult to reach on mobile, enquiries take too many steps, updates are risky or the site no longer supports your business goals.
Targeted fixes or a complete rebuild?
Keep the existing system if its technical foundations are sound and the problems can be addressed directly. A rebuild may be justified when the content structure, admin experience or underlying technology blocks useful changes.
How can you protect organic traffic?
Create a URL inventory, identify pages to retain and map removed URLs to relevant destinations with 301 redirects. Check canonical tags, internal links, the sitemap and post-launch Search Console data.
What should you measure before and after launch?
Mobile loading performance, relevant organic landing pages, enquiry conversion and broken URLs. Claim improvements only when supported by comparable data.
